Today our nation joins together to honor Old Glory on Flag Day. We pause to pay respect to the American flag - our nation's symbol of centuries of perseverance, and dedication to freedom and liberty. As well, today marks the 238th birthday of our U.S. Army. Later today, the House will vote on final passage of the 52nd consecutive authorization of funding to protect our nation, and support our men and women in uniform. Let us join together and take a moment to reflect on our blessings and pay gratitude to those who have made America the strong and free nation it is. Tonight I had the honor to speak with some wonderful people in the Macomb County area on tonight's teletown hall. I appreciate everyone who joined the call and the great questions from those who I am so proud to represent, none of whom are afraid to speak their minds.

Did you know that the state of Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state? Each one is unique and represents an important part of our stateâ��s proud maritime heritage. Can you name this lighthouse?

It was an honor to meet Boston Police Department Commissioner Edward Davis today at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing. We all stand with the people of Boston and will exhaust every resource and bring the full weight of justice to bear on those responsible for the horrendous attack that took place on April 15th.

Michigan's blooming season is in full swing

Today I had the honor of being among a group of ladies nominated for the 2013 ATHENA Award by the Macomb Foundation. This international award recognizes individuals who through their leadership contribute to their communities. Congratulations to the winner, Jennifer Morgan of Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility.

Historical Society of Caseville and Maccabee Hall Museum. The Hall was built in the 1890s and houses artifacts and documents maintained by the historical society to keep Caseville's history alive.

Rep. Candice Miller attended the groundbreaking ceremony on October 11th for the Blue Water River Walk project in Port Huron, MI. The Blue Water River Walk project is a public-private partnership led by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and will create a new family-and wildlife-friendly waterfront for the whole community to enjoy.

On October 10th, Rep. Candice Miller participated in DTE Energyâ��s dedication of their wind park project and toured their new solar installation in Michiganâ��s Thumb: McKinley, Sigel, and Minden.
