Harrison Township, MI – U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today congratulated Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) and Chrysler Group L.L.C. on their plans to add a new, one-million square-foot body shop to SHAP. This $165 million facility joins the nearly $850 million investment announced in December 2010 by Chrysler for SHAP’s new state-of-the-art paint shop which broke ground in June of this year, and two stamping facilities in Warren and Sterling Heights.
“This welcome news is further evidence that the domestic auto industry is coming back strong. Chrysler has made a well thought out business decision for further investment at SHAP because the workers and the management there have proven they are up to the challenge,” Miller said. “Congratulations to both management and the workers, Good Job!”
