Miller Hosts Congress in the Classroom at Port Huron Northern High School

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today held a Congress in the Classroom teleconference event from her Congressional Office in Washington, D.C. with three Advanced Placement Government classes from Port Huron Northern High School. Miller spoke with the students about how the federal government serves them and the work Miller does to represent their needs within Michigan and in the halls of Congress in our nation’s Capitol.

“I am honored to have had the opportunity today to discuss our federal government with students from Port Huron Northern High School, Home of the Huskies, from our nation’s Capitol,” Miller said. “These individuals are currently learning about the history and function of our nation’s federal government and I am delighted that we got to spend some time to talk about the ways the federal government affects their daily lives. We discussed issues that are important to them, such as job creation and the individual pieces of legislation that are being worked on in Congress to assist our small business and build up our economy. We also discussed issues that affect the water quality and health of the ecosystems sustained within our rivers and the Great Lakes, a particular personal advocacy of mine. These students have grown up and live near Michigan’s waters; they have a particularly strong understanding of the importance of keeping our ecosystems healthy and the roles our boating and shipping industry play.”

“I have the pleasure to represent these students and their families in Congress and take my job advocating on their behalf very seriously.  I thank them for taking the time to engage with me in conversation today and wish everyone the best this school year,” Miller said.
