Harrison Township, MI – U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today joined with Macomb County officials in celebrating the formal opening the final stretch of the Macomb Orchard Trail. The Orchard Trail is a 24 mile paved hike and bike path located in Northern Macomb County. The final phase of the trail recently completed runs east of M-53 in Bruce Township through Armada Township to the City of Richmond. Miller has been an advocate for the trail and in previous Congresses was able to secure funding for its construction.
“I am a firm believer that bike and hike paths are a great investment for our communities. In addition to improving our quality of life, supporting property values and helping us deal effectively with issues of great importance like combating childhood obesity, the Macomb Orchard Trail will be a treasure to be enjoyed for generations,” Miller said. “More than two decades ago, I started the very first bike path in Macomb County on 16 Mile/Metropolitan Parkway. And with the completion of this trail today, we look forward to the day when our entire county trail system is fully connected. The Macomb Orchard Trail is a now a 24 mile paved trail providing free recreation for everyone of all abilities to enjoy. The Bay to Bridge Trail in St. Clair County also shows the commitment across the 10th Congressional District of federal, state and local government to join together with private industry to provide support for these paths which are such an asset for our community. I applaud everyone who has worked so hard to make this project a reality, because the beneficiaries will be the generations of children, families and individuals whose lives will be impacted in such a positive way.”
