Advisory: Does Administrative Amnesty Harm Our Efforts to Gain and Maintain Operational Control of the Border

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, will hold a hearing on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011, at 10:00am entitled, “Does Administrative Amnesty Harm Our Efforts to Gain and Maintain Operational Control of the Border.”

Chairman Miller said: “Securing our nation’s borders is one of the principal responsibilities of the federal government. Our hearing will examine the impact of the Administration’s recent decision to limit enforcement of federal immigration laws concerning illegal immigration cases and how this new policy will affect the Border Patrol’s ability to gain and maintain operational control of the border. Instead of offering a blind eye to those people who break our laws, we should ensure our nation’s law enforcement has the resources they need and we have a clear strategy to secure our borders.”

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th at 10:00am in 311 Cannon. Live Web cast will begin at the start of the hearing.

• Michael Fisher, Chief of the U.S Border Patrol
• Kumar Kibble, Deputy Director, Immigration and Customs Enforcement
• Ruth Ellen Wasem, Ph.D., Congressional Research Service
