Harrison Township, MI – U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, today expressed serious concern with the reports that President Obama’s Administration has granted Sony Pictures and filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow high-level access for a film on the mission in which U.S. Special Operations Forces killed Osama bin Laden. The film is reportedly to be released next October, just a month before the November 2012 elections. Miller reiterates House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King’s (NY-3) call on Defense Department Inspector General Gordon Heddell and CIA Inspector General David Buckley to conduct an investigation into these reports. Miller said:
“Our special operators work in shadows and secret because their purpose is to destroy the enemies of our nation and to keep us safe. Hollywood should not be given undue access to classified information regarding the mission our special forces and CIA operators that brought bin Laden to justice simply for entertainment value if by giving that information we put vital American intelligence sources and future operations at risk, not to mention the safety and security of our troops and their families. These reports are incredibly concerning and must be fully investigated immediately.”
