Subcommittee to Consider Legislation Requiring DHS to Develop Strategy for Securing Our Borders
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, will hold a markup on Thursday, June 2nd at 9:00am and consider the following:
• H.R. 1299, the “Secure Border Act of 2011,” was introduced by Chairman Miller on March 31, 2011, for the purpose of requiring the Department of Homeland Security to develop a plan to gain operational control of the U.S Borders within five years and taking into account staffing requirements, infrastructure, including pedestrian fencing, vehicle barriers, use of unmanned aerial vehicles, technology and sensors. The bill has 29 cosponsors and was referred solely to the Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security.
