WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today praised the awarding of $37,281 U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters FY 2010 Grant (AFG) to Chesterfield Township Fire Department.
“This grant will help Chesterfield Township Fire Department purchase needed fire turnout gear which is vital to the protection of our first responders when responding to an emergency,” Miller said. “This DHS’ grant continues the commitment to invest in our community fire departments and assists our first responders with the tools needed to meet their fire and rescue missions.”
*Please Note: This DHS grant is not a federally requested project (earmark) or a stimulus requested project. The DHS grant is part of the 2010 AFG award program and has been in operation since the year following September 11, 2001. The AFG award program is intended to support first responder training, supply adequate firefighting/EMS equipment, including rescue vehicles and protective gear, as well as provide for the wellness and fitness of firefighters.
