Miller: Repeal of Job-Killing Health Care Law Starts Now

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today joined in support of the legislation to repeal the job-killing health care law in its entirety congressional Democrats passed and President Obama signed into law last year. Miller presided as Speaker pro tempore over the debate to bring the health care law repeal legislation to the floor of the House of Representatives.

“I am proud that one of my first votes in the 112th Congress begins the process to repeal the job-killing health care law that was forced through Congress and unconstitutionally imposes an individual mandate to purchase health care on every American citizen,” Miller said. “House Republicans made the commitment in our Pledge to America to undo the damage done by Congressional Democrats and the Obama Administration and today our work began to undo ObamaCare.”

“I am very proud to have been asked by Speaker Boehner to preside over the House during this important debate,” said Miller. “The American people can be certain that our new Republican Majority will keep the promises we made to them and we will continue to work diligently to reduce spending, reduce the size and scope of government and get our economy growing.”

Note: In addition to the Repeal legislation, a Resolution has also been passed which instructs the relevant House committees to report replacement health care legislation that focuses on fostering economic growth and private sector job creation, lowing health care premiums through increasing competition, allowing patients to keep their existent health care plans if they choose, providing for access to care for people with pre-existing conditions, protecting the doctor-patient relationship and prohibiting taxpayer funds from being used for abortions.
