Miller: Safely Dispose of Your Prescription & Over-the-Counter Medicines

Participate in a drug take-back event near you this Saturday

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today urged all residents to join in the prescription and over-the-counter drug take-back events in their local communities. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is hosting collection sites all over the country on Saturday, September 25th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm where residents may bring their unwanted or expired solid prescription and over-the-counter drugs for safe disposal. Liquids, such as cough syrup, will not be accepted.

“The drug take-back event is a safe and environmentally-sensitive way of disposing unwanted medicines,” Miller said. “Often what happens is we end up throwing our medicines away or flushing them down the toilet and they reach our environment and water systems causing pollution or we leaving them around our homes and they become potential poisons to children and pets. I urge everyone to take part in the DEA’s drug take-back event this coming Saturday and keep our homes and communities safe.”
