Miller Statement on Independence Day

Harrison Township, MI – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today issued the following statement regarding our nation’s Independence Day:

“234 years ago on July 4, 1776 our founding fathers boldly declared the independence of the United States from the British crown and established our nation on the belief that all men are created equal. For the first time in history they established a government that derived its just powers from the consent of the governed instead of the people being subject to an un-elected king. A nation where the people would be born free and would be able to pursue the blessings of liberty.

“This Fourth of July we once again celebrate the profound act which established our great nation. A nation which to this day stands as a beacon of hope for countless across the globe who dream to be free. And a nation which continues to bestow countless blessings on those of us fortunate enough to call it home.

“Let us all say a silent prayer of thanks for the wisdom and bravery of our founders this July 4th. Let us never forget those who have fought and died to secure that freedom in our revolution; those who fought in the Civil War so that our nation could finally live up to principles upon which our nation was founded; and those who have continually stood up in defense of liberty so that we can all live free.

“God bless America!”
