Miller Statement on Passage of the Doc Fix

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today voted for the Preservation of Access to Care for Medicare Beneficiaries and Pension Relief Act of 2010 (Doc Fix) which will reverse a 21 percent pay cut for the physicians who accept Medicare patients.

“Today, Congress came together to avoid a 21 percent pay cut for physicians who treat Medicare patients, and we were able to do this in a fiscally responsible way that does not add to the national deficit,” Miller said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in a bipartisan way to permanently eliminate cuts that could reduce access to the Medicare program.”

Unlike past measures, this Doc Fix bill is fully paid for by a $4.2 billion hospital payment provision and a $2.8 billion provision that offers companies relief from pension funding obligations. The measure passed the United States Senate by unanimous consent and the bill will now be delivered to the White House for the President’s signature.
