WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today released the following statement regarding the arrest of the suspected terrorist who attempted an attack on New York City’s Time Square:
“I join with Americans around our nation in thanking those citizens who alerted authorities about the suspicious vehicle in Times Square and for the NYPD and the FBI for their outstanding investigation that led to the quick capture of the suspect. The suspected terrorist, Faisal Shahzad, is now in custody and our law enforcement will continue their investigation to make certain anyone connected with this attempted terrorist attack is brought to justice. This is a sharp reminder that our county is still at war with those who wish harm to America. This instance also shows how vital the participation of a vigilant public is to the effort to make America more secure.”
Miller is Michigan’s only member of the House Homeland Security Committee. She is also a member of the House Republicans National Security Solutions Group which will advocate and develop better solutions to the national security challenges our nation faces and will hold the Obama Administration accountable when it pursues misguided policies that make the American people less safe.
