Miller: America Must Honor Those Who Bear the Battle in Defense of Freedom

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today released the following statement for Memorial Day:

“For generations, patriotic members of our military from our region and throughout our nation and territories have answered our nation’s call to serve in times of both peace and war. These veterans served our nation faithfully with distinction and honor. And as it is written on the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C, ‘freedom isn’t free.’ The cost of the defense of freedom is vividly shown in the rows of crosses in Arlington National Cemetery where generations of America’s warriors, who have defended our freedom, have been laid to rest.

“I have often thought that our nation’s moral compass can be measured by the way we honor those who have borne the battle in defense of freedom. We must ensure that our veterans have the best care our nation can provide and we must continue to support the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Let every American today say a silent prayer of thanksgiving for those who given their full measure in defense of our liberty and we must all continue to honor and support those who today man posts across this globe to make certain that we Americans can continue to live in the light of freedom.”
