WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10), a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, today joined with House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Rep. Peter T. King (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and other colleagues to form a new National Security Solutions Group. This group will take the lead in advocating and developing better solutions to the national security challenges we face and hold the Obama Administration accountable when it pursues misguided policies that make the American people less safe.
“Ensuring that our nation is able to address all aspects of national security and law enforcement needs is the mission of this group,” Miller said. “By forming this solutions group, we are fulfilling the promise the federal government made to put every citizen’s security first. We live in a dangerous world and we must focus on utilizing past policies that have worked well for our nation, as well as creating new policies that will further strengthen our security.”
“Addressing the national security challenges we face and protecting the American people are absolutely vital,” said Boehner. “Congresswoman Miller has been a leader in our efforts to offer common-sense solutions that keep America safe and support our troops in harm’s way, and she will be a critical part of our national security solutions group.”
• The National Security Solutions Group will advocate and develop better GOP solutions to the national security challenges we face and hold the Obama Administration accountable when it pursues misguided policies that make the American people less safe.
• Republicans have consistently supported our men and women in uniform and offered common-sense solutions that keep America safe.
• We supported the President when he made responsible decisions on Iraq and Afghanistan, but we have steadfastly opposed Obama Administration efforts to import terrorists into the U.S., cut missile defense, and other policies that alienate our closest allies and undermine our national security.
• The National Security Solutions Group, like the other House GOP member working groups that have been established over the past year, will complement and support the work of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, who is leading the effort by House Republicans to engage the American people and put forth a positive governing agenda.
