Miller: $1 Million in Brownfields Program Grants Going to St. Clair County

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today announced a $1 million grant to fund an assessment of 80 land sites in St. Clair County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority to determine if their land sites are contaminated with hazardous substances and petroleum, and will allow the county to apply for an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant to have those contaminated sites cleaned up. The $1 million Brownfield Program grant is part of the $78.9 million in total funding the EPA announced this week.

“This important funding will be used to determine what level of clean up the sites in St. Clair County may require,” Miller said. “This grant will help the communities trying to rehabilitate property on tight budgets, improve the surrounding environment and the strength of our local economy.”

Please note: This is a completive bided federal grant and not a Congressional earmark.
