WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today made the following comments after the Democrat Majority rammed though a bill to temporarily suspend the employer’s share of Social Security and Medicare tax in an effort to help create jobs in H.R. 2847:
“Today, I voted against a bill that would have taken money away from both the Social Security and Medicare trust funds – money the Democratic Majority says it needs to pay for their reckless federal spending binge. Additionally, the Congressional Budget Office estimates this bill would increase the deficit by another $13 billion. Washington needs to stop its outrageous spending – let’s start thinking about the burden we are placing on future generations.”
