Miller Statement on Passage of the Health Care Budget Reconciliation

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today released the following statement after passage of the health care budget reconciliation bill in the United States House of Representatives:

“The American people were promised that this health care reform bill would help to lower costs for individuals and job providers, but that is not what’s happening. Actually in just the last couple of days both John Deere reported that new taxes contained in the legislation would cost the company $150 million and Caterpillar said that their tax liability would rise by $100 million. By raising the costs for these and other job providers, the government is making it much more difficult for these businesses to expand and create the new jobs our economy and the American people so desperately need.

“I think as time goes by we are going to have more and more buyer’s remorse as the true costs of this trillion dollar big government health care plan become known. It is really a shame that some of the only new jobs that this health care bill will create are the 16,000 new IRS agents that need to be hired to impose the new taxes, penalties and fees on job providers and the American people to make sure that this health care mandate is insured.”
