Miller: Bruce Township Fire Department to Receive DHS Grants

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10) today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded a $75,924 grant to the Bruce Township Fire Department. This grant is part of the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program and is intended to support first responder training, supply adequate firefighting/EMS equipment, including rescue vehicles and protective gear, as well as provide for the wellness and fitness of firefighters.

“This AFG grant provides critical tools for firefighters who are the first to arrive at the scene of an emergency. The financial support going to these brave men and women who serve will aid in the security of the citizens and the community,” said Miller. “Delivering the best safety services is a top priority for this department and this grant will help each first responder meet their mission.”

The grant awarded to Bruce Township Fire Department will enable them to purchase new equipment, such as air packs for their firefighters.
