Harrison Township, MI - U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today issued the following statement in response to closed-door negotiations on the health care reform bills passed in the House and Senate:

Representative Miller said:

“This administration and the Democratic Majority gave up any pretense at bipartisanship on the issue of health care long ago; however, this latest iteration of their ram and jam approach to governance is really quite breathtaking. They are totally doing an end run around the democratic process by not even having a conference committee to reconcile the House and Senate bills. That would require them to allow Republicans to debate and offer amendments; an inconvenience the Democrats will not be bothered with.

“They promised the American people transparency and they have given them back room secrecy and vote buying. Shame.”
